The Haps....

Since I haven't done "monthly" updates I thought I would just list some of the current happenings in Max's life.

The good-

He is talking more and more as understanding a lot.  He gets his shoes when I ask, throws always his dirty diapers, grabs wine bottles from the wine fridge, and tells me to lay in my bed when he wants to snuggle.  He also tells me when he wants to walk, swing, and get in the car. 

The bad...

He still hits his mama, daddy and Obbie.

He loves the word no, and wait. As in WAIT, it's not time for bed.  He refuses to eat anything I make. And I'm making damn good food people!

The ugly.....

He refuses to get into his car seat. It's war every time we get to the car.  He uses all his kiddie-mite to fight us. Biting, swinging at us, screaming.  We have had to resort to pinching his nose to distract and divert his tantrum.  And I have now also reduced myself to that mama, you know the one who brides with candy. Oh yes! I did.  

We are now on to operation Jelly Belly.  Wish us luck folks.

The happiest place on EARTH

We did it. We made it to Disney. I was a lil worried on how the Monster would fare, but he proved me wrong and handled himself like a boss. And with only a 20 min nap to boot. He loved Disney. And he's a bit of a thrill seeker.  He didnt waiver at any of the rides. How ever, Donald Duck scared the poop outta him. 

 It was an awesome time. Spendy, but awesome.  I look forward to taking him back next spring!

We enrolled Max in swim school at the beginning of May.  Thought it would be a good idea since we are around the water so much.  However, mama needs to take some classes as well.  I fear the water.  And I swear, I can't float.  I am certain my bones are heavier than the average bear.

Anyways, Max loved it.  There were moments he wanted out, or called out for "mama", "mama". But over all he laughed and squealed with delight.

They took turns trying to get him comfortable floating on his back and dunking him under water.  By the end of two weeks he has gotten pretty good holding his breath, but the back float needs more practice.

I just love watching him splash around.

Pool life

Have I mentioned how we are loving California life! Warm days, pool, tans, Mojitos, bike rides, beaches, and lemons from our lemon tree.

Have I mentioned how we are missing our Seattle life?  Our friends, the city, two bedrooms, our friends.

Thirty Six

Thirty Six.  Sound old?

At first, I began dreading my pending birthday.  Ugh, one more nail in the coffin as my lovely hubby would say.

But then I began to put it into perspective.  There are people in my life that I have lost.  People that would probably love to have another Birthday.  Another day to hold their partner or child.  Their sister or best friend.

How lucky am I that I get to continue to this live this amazing life I have been granted.

Thirty Six.

Thirty Six was the age my mother was when she was killed.  Killed late one night, unassuming and unprepared.

Thirty Six.  Sounds freakin' young now doesn't it.  How young she was to be taken.  How much more life she had to live.  How much she has now missed out on.

So instead of getting all grouchy that I am getting older, or that my hair is really starting to grey, or that I can't drink like I used to.  I remember that I am truly lucky to be here.  Every day and every minute.  You never know when your time is up.

Sister weekend.....blissful

You know what is great? Escaping. Going off on an adventure that is totally different from your day to day routine.  

That is what this weekend was. Full of sleeping in, napping, spa services, room service, lots of wine, decadent dishes, and belly laughs. 

It refreshes the mind. Reboots your soul.  It's awe-some!!!

Super Franks

We hit up a place called Super Franks in Pleasanton the other day.  What a fun place.  You pay $8.00 and you have the run of the place.  Yummy kid food, and tons of themed rooms that you can explore.  A "under the sea" room was a hit.  Black light makes everything cooler.

I was a bit of a struggle leaving the place as Max was not ready to go.  But as soon as we hit the car, he was out! Success!

Napa

Two weekends ago my bestie and her newly crowned Fiancé came for their annual visit.  We decided to keep this trip low key and just enjoy the company and weather.  We did though, travel west to a little town called Napa.  Heard of it?  It's just this quaint till town that is know for its wine.

So we ate, drank and soaked up some rays.  It was a great day and a great weekend.
