HOLY COLD BATMAN!

So, of course Rob and I knew it would be snowy and cold here in Vermont, but I don't think I really knew what I was getting into.  I am from Alaska so I wasn't too worried about the snow, ice and freezing temperatures.  However, it has been almost 18 years since I have lived in the great white North, and apparently this mama has forgotten how cold, cold can be.

I was watching the temps drop and started to worry.  Did this mean I would be stuck inside all weekend too :(  Nope, it wouldn't stop us! Sunday we were going to bundle up and head to Killington for a day of adventure.

Unfortunately, that enthusiasm was short lived.

We got all ready and Rob went to start the Dodge.

No start......hmmmmm

So I, determined to get out of the house for the day, knocked on our neighbors door and asked for a jump. (So nice of him to help.  It was below zero out.)

Thirty minutes later with no charged battery we came to the sad conclusion that it was fried and would need to be replaced. This now would mean a flat bed truck taking our Dodge for the day to the only auto shop in town.

On to plan B.

Since we were already dressed for the weather. We put Max in his stroller.  Bundled him all up. Enclosed his stroller so no wind or elements could reach him, and decided to made our trek down the street to the Sugar Bush ski village.

We ended up having lunch at Timbers, followed up by a nice warm Apple Toddy.  So although the day didn't go as planned, we made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves anyway.  Even if liquor was needed to ease us into it.

More Vermont adventures

This week cabin fever set in for this mama.  I can only stare at the walls and my cute baby for so long before I start talking to inanimate objects, and actually waiting for a response.  SO this weekend we decided to go out on the town, well....you know what I mean.

I had saw some antique shops that looks super cute so we checked some of those out.  I saw some pretty neat stuff but held back my urge to purchase everything.  I have a few things I am on the hunt for, so I must keep focused :)

Then we went to the local Apple Cider Mill.  It was neat.  The thing I love about Vermont is that they really support their state.  Most products are made in Vermont and it feels good to buy locally.

maple butter, apple butter, maple jams...all local and yummy

although cold, it was a beautiful clear day

We couldn't stay out too long because it was SO very cold out.  This day, the high was about 9 degrees.  It got to be a little too uncomfortable.

mush bucket

I have to say, for some reason the last couple of days I have been feeling a little mushy when it comes to my little man.  I sometimes stare at him in awe.  I think of how my life was before he was here and how it has changed.  I get so excited for him when he learns something new, and my heart melts while I watch him sleep.  How can something be so perfect?  And how did I get so lucky?

Providence

This past weekend we drove down to see some McCallum's in Rhode Island.  I took a few shots of us walking around downtown Providence.  Such a cute little city.  And, it was 60 degrees in January. Can't beat that.

Half a year already

Has half a year gone by already?
6 months!
26 weeks
183 days!

Little Maxwell is following along on his milestones quite nicely :)  He now sits up by himself (for moments at a time) He is on all fours a lot and isn't liking being on his back much.  He is very eager to eat new food, or any food at that matter.  He throws little tantrums when frustrated.  He is starting to recognize his name, and babbles all the time. He also loves to be tickled, recognizes faces and can travel some distance on his own, just not going forward.  His bedtime routine is still tricky.  Although he falls a sleep on his own, he rarely gives mama more than 3-4 hours of consecutive sleep. I am confident he will grow out of this, and I am patiently, patiently waiting.

notice the onesie......nice!!!

And here are some oldies.  I gasp a little when I see how small he was.

Happy New Years!!!

So with the Grandparents in town, we took advantage of our newly found freedom and escaped for a few hours on New Years Eve.  We headed to Warren to a hidden bar called Tracks.  Its below this fancy restaurant that Rob's dad told us to check out.  It was pretty fun, even though we were the only ones really there.  Well I guess it was only 6:30 :)

That night, I barely made it to midnight, but I did.  2011 was an amazing year for our family.  I can't wait to see what the new year has in store.
