Grandpa!

Can I just say one of the sweetest things I have heard come out of Max's mouth was,"Grandpa".

Max had a great time bonding with his Grandparents.  I loved watching it as well.  I don't have any memories of my Grandfather so it's special to me to see Max having that experience.

The leaves in Vermont did not disappoint.  I was surprised at how much Max liked them as well.  His favorite, kicking them.

The colors were fantastic!  I couldn't get enough of it!

It has been nice to come home to Seattle and see that Fall is still around.  When he left Vermont it was snowing....YuCK!

needed this....

Well this came at a great time.  Just yesterday when I was having a play date with Max and a friend of mine, I was grumbling about that fact that I wasn't a good mother because.....

Max isn't interested in art, probably because I don't sit with him and encourage him.
Or,
that Max doesn't seem to have a strong vocabulary, probably because I don't teach him enough.
Or,
Max isn't potty trained, cause I am afraid of the work,
Or,
Max is hitting me, probably because I am too reactive and he is just like me.

I've been feeling inadequate lately.  I suppose because Max has been a little hard to handle at times.  It makes one question their skills.  Am I cut out for this?  And I think it is good to question your skills, and re-evaluate time to time.  I think that makes us better.  But if we aren't careful, it can tear you down as well.

But watching this, it totally helped with my insecurities.  Not that I won't always question if I am doing a good job, but that it reminded me that what I do for Max, it is out of love.  Such an extreme love! I hope he feels that and knows that in his core, and that he can carry that forever.

Currently { a link up }

www.harvestingkale.blogspot.com

Currently I am loving the quiet time I am experiencing right now.  The monster is asleep and the hubby is watching a movie upstairs with his father. Ah quiet.  Its hard to get time to yourself when you aren't at home and on vacation.  I am not trying to complain too much, but I am loving some peace time.  Max is loving the leaves here in Vermont.  Every time he seems them he says, leaves, leaves.  Then proceeds to walk, kick and jump around in them.

Currently I am listening to way to much PBS.  And not the adult variety.  A lot of Curious George, Peg and Cat, Dinosaur Train etc.  Which ties in nicely to what I have been currently singing.  I find myself alone and humming the damn songs.  Like right now, I have the Dinosaur Train theme song playing in my head. Please Leave!!!!  However, Max is starting to count, and I have to give props to Peg & Cat for that!

Currently worrying about having another baby, being pregnant and never sleeping again. I have to admit, there is a small part of me that is considering bagging the whole idea.  I don't know if I am up for the challenge.  Max is giving me a run for my money right now and I am exhausted.  I feel like I am on constant repeat-Don't hit, Don't scream, Don't do this or that.  I wears on you and at the end of the day, you feel like a shitty parent.  Did I spoil him too much, did I yell to loud. UGH!  Can I throw another monster into the mix?

Currently singing…..see above.

Currently I am reading way too may beauty magazines.  What else is there to do when you are cooped up inside?  However, with the recent vacation weight I have put on, these magazines are wrecking havoc on my psyche. As if I don't do a fine enough job on my own.

The mini-experience

Oh mini, how I loved thee.  But shhhhhhh.  Don't tell any one.

Now I always vowed to myself to never get one of these. Simply because I know it would zap any coolness I have left in my bones. Or any coolness I have may have dreamt I had.  But man, one ride in this and you can understand the appeal.  All the leg room, compartments for crap, and built in DVD player.  What more could a traveling family want.

With that said, we are having a great time out here on the East Coast.  I have much to share, but that will have to wait till I am back in Seattle.  I just can't seem to concentrate out here, must be the water.

Can't wait till Vermont!

Did you ever see that movie, "Baby Boom"?  Diane Keaton was in it and it was released in 1987.  That made me about 10.  I am not sure I was that age when I first saw this movie, but I know once I did I became sort of obsessed.  Why?  Who the hell knows.  But I really loved that movie.  And one of the most memorable things about that movie was Vermont.  The color of the leaves, the small town, and the quaint surroundings.  I always told myself I would go there some day. Well who knew, that decades later I would end up marring a man whose father owns a ski condo in Vermont?!  So my dream came true-I made it to Vermont.  It was all that I imagined.  Little general stores with pot belly stoves and all the cider you could drink.  Maple syrup sold by the gallons.  And the most beautiful old wood bridges, standing tall after all these years.

Well this fall we are traveling back to New England to visit family, and attend Rob's sisters wedding.  My monster is the ring bearer.  Dear god wish us luck!  But I get to go back up to Vermont but this time to see the foliage that Vermont is so famous for.  It's just like in the movie, where I first fell in love with Vermont.  I may just have to buy that movie for all times sake.

And the pictures opportunities! I can't freakin' wait!

Seattle's fall isn't to shabby either!

Rainy days

whats down there?

What can I say.  This is Seattle.  The lovely Pacific Northwest.  And I better get my raincoat and rain boots on and stop bitching, and sighing at this weather.  It is here to stay and makes not excuses for its' behavior.  So buck up camper, it's gonna be a long winter!  Max however seems to appreciate her and all her glory.

Booty

You know me, I am a sucker for a booty.  It was a sweet moment where after a bath Max grabbed the ipad to put it on his stool.  At this moment he was quiet.  He was content, and he was sweet.  A far different person then who he was earlier that day.

I guess this is it.  The dreaded terrible twos.  It has reared its ugly head a few times this year, but just as I thought I couldn't bear it any more, his little sweetness would return and all would be forgotten.

However, recently it feels like these terrible twos are here to stay.  Man is he testing my patience.  It's really the screaming that makes me crack.  The deep throaty scream.  The one you know is not caused from pain but from just being pissed off.  Pissed that I didn't get him milk, or pissed that he has to take a nap.  Or pissed that we have to put a coat on.  It instantly brings me to my knees.  I want to run. Far, far away.  Not so much when we are in the privacy of our home.  I can run to my room or send him to his.  It's the public display of hatred that kills me.  The looks.  The sighs.  I just smile and lower my head.  I wonder if you can tell that I am plotting my escape.

I know, or hope rather that this time will pass.  And sooner than later I hope.  I tell you, it sure puts a damper on wanting to procreate again.  Birth control at its finest.

But as I look at this picture now I am reminded at how much I love this monster.
